In 2001, as Rwanda was rebuilding from the wounds of civil conflict, a group of community leaders came together with a single conviction: that lasting peace is built from the ground up. They founded CAPR — Collectif des Artisans de la Paix et la Réconciliation — to bridge the gap between government institutions and the communities that needed them most.
Over two decades, CAPR has grown from a grassroots initiative in Kigali to a nationally recognised organisation operating across seven Rwandan districts — from Kayonza in the east to Rutsiro in the west.
Our approach has never changed: work with communities, not for them. Every program is designed with beneficiaries, not for beneficiaries.
A future where all people have access to basic needs and live in harmony.
To empower citizens with skills for successful participation in community development and peacebuilding.
